Anyone know of any brokers who you could buy the IPO on this one? Would Ameritrade offer it? I think you'll be able to retire off this one...

Default NYMEX going public

No exchange yet, this is from Investors Daily:

The Nymex, among the last sturdy outposts of open-outcry trading done by actual humans, has an IPO path squarely paved. The exchange has hammered out a deal to sell a 10 percent equity stake (for $160 million -- valuing the company's equity at $1.6 billion) to General Atlantic, the Greenwich-based private equity firm that famously seeded ETrade and Archipelago.

The proposed terms of the deal make clear that Nymex stands to gain another $10 million from GA if the exchange completes an IPO of $2 billion or more by year's end.

Meanwhile, the NYMEX, now being primarily led behind the scenes by Vice Chairman Richard Schaeffer, is going to shrink its board to 15 members from 25. The most likely to step down is Nymex Chairman Mitchell Steinhause -- blamed fairly or unfairly for the London debacle (NYMEX opened an open-outcry trading pit a day late and a dollar short and got trounced by ICE screens) and chastised for his inability to get a deal done (a strategic partnership with the CME took forever to cement and ultimately fizzled) all while allowing electronic rival ICE to steal volume.

Nymex intends to hold a special meeting for shareholders to vote on the deal by mid-March. Nymex spokeswoman Anu Ahluwalia didn't return calls, but then again we didn't give her much time. GA spokeswoman Pat Hedley couldn't say when this historic meeting will be held.

J.P. Morgan and Merrill Lynch are the underwriters. If you have doneany business with them maybe you could get in. Not too sure AMTD has shares of this to go around.
