Updated share price information.

It seems as if Rambus (nasdaq: RMBS - news - people ) spends as much time defending its patents as it does cooking up the latest innovation in dynamic random-access memory chips.

Well, score one today for the engineers -- not the shysters.

Rambus' stock jumped after the company said it had signed an agreement with Toshiba (other-otc: TOSBF.PK - news - people ), Japan's largest chipmaker, to license interface technology.

Rambus closed Wednesday at $19.13, up $1.85, or 10.71%. The 52-week range is $10.25 to $46.99.

Toshiba will use Rambus' memory controller interface and PCI Express, a technology to connect components, including graphics cards in computers.

Rambus dynamic random-access memory chips are used in PCs, video game consoles and other electronic systems. Intel (nasdaq: INTC - news - people ) accounts for about 26% of the company's revenue. Rambus also licenses its technology to Elpida Memory and Matsushita.
